  • Carole Pickering

    Co-Chair

    Born an FDR Democrat in Pennsylvania, Carole moved to New York about 50 years ago. She began her professional career as a music educator and supervisor. Carole then moved on in administration as an elementary school principal (Kingston, NY), and ultimately the first female Superintendent of Schools in Hyde Park.

      Alongside her professional career, Carole has been a passionate activist for human rights, nuclear disarmament and gun control.

    She is also the proud Mom of three and Grandma of six.

    In retirement, Carole served as Chair of the Methodist Church Council (Hyde Park), and chaired the Dutchess County Mental Health Board.

    Carole has been Chair of the Hyde Park Democrats for the past five years, working with Co-Chair Mark Campbell to support the election of qualified Democrats up and down the ballot!

    A retired educator, Nancy Keeney is a life-long Democrat of the Hudson Valley - from growing up in Westchester county to living in the city of Albany in her twenties, and then to the Mid-Hudson Valley since 1993.  She now lives in Staatsburg. Keeney taught secondary English and reading in public schools for 23 years and in a private school for 6 years.  She continues to enjoy looking through the political, educational, and social lens of two distinct parent and student communities.  Nancy stepped up as union president for her local teacher's union after Trump’s first election win, and now serves as president of the Red Hook Retiree Association.  She also serves on the Friends of Mills at Staatsburgh board since 2018.   Keeney raised two kids and is a grandmother of two in a happily blended family. 

  • Herbert Sweet

    Treasurer

    Herbert Sweet receive an AAS in Electronics Technology from State University Agricultural and Technical Institute in 1959 and a BS in Business Administration from Syracuse University in 1964. He worked at General Electric as an electronic technician aligning and troubleshooting radar and missile guidance systems and then in administration at IBM in the Hudson Valley. After retiring in 1992 he became active in Hyde Town government participating on the Master Plan Committee and Zoning Board of Appeals for 30 years and also on the broadcast committee for 15 years. He has been a treasurer for the Hyde Park Democratic Committee and various Hyde Park candidates for the past 15 years.
