General election: November 3, 2026

The big one. Federal, state, county, and town offices are all on the ballot. Here are the dates to hold onto.

Registration deadline
October 24, 2026

Last day your voter registration must be received to vote in the general election.

Early voting
Oct 24 to Nov 1, 2026

Nine days of in person early voting. Hours vary by day, so check with the county.

Mail ballot request
By October 24, 2026

Last day to apply online or by mail. In person requests are accepted through November 2.

Election Day
November 3, 2026

Polls are open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. If you are in line by 9 p.m., you can vote.

Completed mail ballots must be postmarked or returned in person by November 3, and must reach the county Board of Elections by November 10 to be counted.

Choose what works for you

On Election Day

Vote at your assigned polling place, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. No photo ID is required if you are already registered.

Early in person

New York offers nine days of early voting before each election. Your early site may differ from your Election Day site.

By early mail or absentee

Any registered voter can request an early mail ballot with no excuse. Apply through the county and return it on time.
